Charles Edward "Chuck", "Papa" Ulm, age 77, of Wanatah, IN, and formerly of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the VNA Horton Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN. He was born on October 14, 1929 in Lafayette, IN, to Charles F. and Ethel (Blackwood) Ulm. Chuck graduated in 1947 from Remington High School and was a manager for Checker Oil Company. He also worked at Opportunity Enterprises in assembly for four years, after which he retired. Chuck was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Valparaiso, was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 403 in Wanatah. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing.
On October 20, 1967, Chuck married Jean Landolf who survives along with four children: Robert Ulm of Burbonais, IL., Debra Ulm of Hammond, IN., Janet Marie (Hilmer) Morgan of Wanatah, IN., and Karen L. (Rob) Kuehl of Wanatah, IN.; four step-children; Cynthia (Kevin) Jenkins, William (Pam) Nibbe, James (Sherri) Nibbe and April (Dan) Lichtl; grandson, Jeff Fusner of WA; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin F. (Irene) Ulm of Remington, IN., and sister, Marsha (Denny) Rule of OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Ulm, and sister, Violet Liechty.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, IN with the Rev. Patrick Ormos officiating. Entombment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery Mausoleum, Valparaiso, IN. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Chuck's best little buddy, Dusty, has now been reunited with his master as of May 12, 2011 around 3:15 pm. What a happy reunion!!
