NYSSA - Services for Eva Christie Aspinwall, 86, died Monday, Sept. 9, 1985 who died in an Ontario, Oregon nursing home, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday September 13, in Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario, Oregon with Rev. Paul Gering of the First Assembly of God Church in Ontario officiating. Interment will follow at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Nyssa, Oregon.

She was born June 10, 1899 in Portland, Oregon where she was raised and educated. She attended and graduated from Monmouth Normal School as a teacher. She taught for 10 years before she married Mark Moses Aspinwall on June 8, 1924. They lived in Brooks and Clatskanie, Oregon, where they farmed until moving to Nyssa, Oregon in 1955, where they raised peppermint and owned and operated their own distillery for peppermint oil. Mr. Aspinwall died December 13, 1963 in Nyssa, Oregon. She continued to farm until ill health forced her retirement. She was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Ontario; the Boulevard Grange of Ontario, Oregon and for many years helped with the Jobs Daughters.

Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Nelson of Nyssa; a sister, Lillian Nelson of Torrance, Calif.; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband (Mark), she was preceded in death by a brother Walter and sister Lillian Thomas.

Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Ontario, Oregon to purchase new hymnals in memory of Eva Christie Aspinwall.
