DUANESBURG. April 28—Mrs. Bertha Wemple Briggs, 81, wife of John C. Briggs, lifelong resident of the Town of Duanesburg, died Wednesday morning at the Briggs home in Quaker Street where she had lived for the past 55 years. She had been ill since December.
Mrs. Briggs was born December 7, 1867, daughter of Abram I and Evelyn Wilber Wemple. Her father was well known throughout the area as an undertaker for, many years.
She was married November 24, 1886. In the Wemple home to John Calvin Briggs. Last Fall they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary at a family dinner party. Mrs. Briggs attended the public schools here, was a member of the First Christian Church of Quaker Street, and for years was active in the Women's Auxiliary of the church, and had served many years as president.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, are one-daughter, Mrs. DeWitt MacDonald, (Grace Briggs # 31600268) wife of Dr. K. MacDonald, Albany; one son, Walter W. Briggs, of Quaker Street; three grandsons, Seward W. MacDonald, Philadelphia; DeWitt Kenneth MacDonald Jr., Hanover, N. H., and John C. Briggs 2nd, Hollywood, Calif.; one granddaughter, Mrs, Elwood D. Lawton. Quaker Street; three great grandchildren, Shirley, David and Virginia Lawton, Quaker Street, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday at 2 P. M. The Rev. Morris Skinner of Cobleskill, pastor ,of the First Christian Church at Quaker Street, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at Quaker Street.

John and Bertha had another daughter by the name of Grace Briggs McDonald. Grace was the wife of Dewitt K McDonald.
