Aimie Margie Armstrong Akers, 92, formerly of Luray, died on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Chambrel in Williamsburg, where she had resided for the past three years.

She was born on April 8, 1919 in Milo, Okla. And was a daughter of the late Walter James & Cassie Jane Straily Armstrong.

On Feb. 22, 1941, she married Howard Alan Akers who died on March 30, 2003.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Akers Wallington of Williamsburg and Mary Melinda Akers of Takoma Park, Md.; a son, Howard Alan Akers Jr. of Waynesboro; a sister, Myrtle Maggie LeCrone of Plano, Texas; a brother, Malcom Sam Armstrong of Ardmore, Okla; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard Jackson, Walker Henry and Freeman Floyd Armstrong.

A graveside service was conducted on Monday, Dec. 26, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
