Freeman F. Armstrong of Ardmore, Okla. passed on July 6, 2006, peacefully at home with this wife and family at his side. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Mary Niblack Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Wilson officiating and Pastor Timothy Ball assisting. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.

Mr. Armstrong was born on May 16, 1921, in Milo, Okla. the son of James and Cassie Straily Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard, Herbert and Walter.

He graduated from Wheeler High School, near Milo, and married Lorease Carroll, the love of his life, on Jan. 7, 1942, in Ardmore.

Freeman was a veteran of World War II, in the 569th Bombardment Squadron. He receive an honorable discharge in September of 1945. He worked various positions in the oil industry, finally retiring with Quintin Little Oil Company. He was an active member and deacon at Mary Niblack Baptist Church, and a life-member of VFW and American Legion.

Freeman loved to work in his garden, fishing and raising cattle. Toward the end of his life he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds around his home.

He is survived by his wife, Lorease, of the home; four sons, T. Doyle Armstrong and wife, Nancy, Bartlesville, Dale Armstrong and wife, Anna, San Pedro, Calif., Gary Armstrong and wife, Margie, Little Axe, and Glen Armstrong and wife, Belinda, Guthrie; special longtime family member, Denise Armstrong, Midwest City; eight grandchildren, Cheryl and Bill Desjardins. Troy and Cathie Armstrong, Nolan and Jamie Armstrong, Gina and Ed West, Fanci Armstrong, Kylie Armstrong, Jolene Armstrong and Sara Armstrong; five great-grandchildren, Amber Armstrong, Trey Desjardins, Colton and Caden Armstrong, Braden Armstrong; a brother, Malcom Armstrong, Ardmore; two sisters, Aimie Akers, Luray, Va., and Myrtle LaCrone, Plano, Texas.

Memorials can be made to Mary Niblack Baptist Church building fund.

Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home will direct services.
