Nellie Anthony Bennett, 91, of the 2500 block of Woolsey St., died Tuesday, February 16, 1993, in Bayside Health Care Center, Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Bennett was the husband of the late Samuel David Bennett. Born in Campbell County, August 31, 1901, she was a daughter of the late Moreau and Violet Gibson Anthony, and was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. She was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel David Bennett Jr. and Kenneth Eldridge Bennett.

She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Bennett Speet of Springfield, Marion Bennett Williams of Virginia Beach and Peggy Bennett Craig of Manassas; one daughter-in-law, Genevieve R. Bennett of Virginia Beach; four brothers, Benjamin H. Anthony of Lynchburg, J. Bernard Anthony of Altavista, Hewitt Anthony and Herbert Anthony, both of Lynch Station; two sisters, Lucy McClellan of Altavista and Ethel Marceron of Falls Church; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Altavista, by the Rev. Becky Cloud. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Altavista. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider a charity of their choice.
