H. "Fred" Bovey, 83, of Traer, died Wednesday, April 21, at Sunrise Hill Care Center following an extended illness. He was born May 29, 1926, in Columbus, Ohio, son of Wesley E. and Agnes Wilson Bovey. Mr. Bovey graduated from high school in Traer and served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II in the Pacific theater. He worked as a truck driver for Funks and as an electrician for Traer Municipal Utilities. He then went to work at Rath Packing Co., Waterloo, until his retirement. He was a member of Ripley United Church of Christ, Traer.
Fred is survived by two sons, Lance (Lorie) of Oxnard, California, and Shawn (Maggie) of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Rebecca (Stanley) Pawlaski of Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen; a sister, Agnes; a son, Randy; a daughter, Kellee Weber; and a granddaughter.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Ripley United Church of Christ, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, both in Traer. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Traer American Legion. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home, Traer.
