Grants Mother Dead.
Jersey City, May 11-Mrs. Hannah S. Grant, mother of the ex-president, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Corbin, on Pavonia avenue, Jersey City heights, this afternoon. Mrs. Grant rose this morning in apparently good health, but was seized with severe pains in the region of the heart shortly before noon. A physician was at once summoned, but she expired before his arrival. Mrs. Grant was born in Berks county, Pa., November 23, and was married to Jessie R. Grant at Clermont, Ohio. She was the mother of six children, three of whom are now living, Mrs. Corbin, U. S. Grant and Mrs. Kramer, wife of the present United States minister to Switzerland. The funeral services will be held to-morrow afternoon at her late residence. The interment will take place in the family plot at Spring Grove cemetery. Cincinnati, O.
