Christiana L. J. Card of Humboldt died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999 at Moran Manor in Moran, where she had been a resident for four years. She was 88.
She was born Christiana Lucinda Jane Baker on Dec. 25, 1910 in Humboldt, the daughter of Frederick and Nora (Drake) Baker. She grew up on the family farm west of Iola and attended the Union School.
On June 29, 1930, she married Elmer Card. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1957.
She was employed at the Allen County Hospital, in Iola for 25 years. She was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
She is survived by two sons Frederick D. of Chanute and Charles E. of Melissa, TX; a daughter Mary Jane Sumner of Grove, OK; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Georgee W., William H., John A., Charles R., and Frederick D. (Bud) and two sisters, Dorothy B. Morgan and Barbara A. Switzer.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Peter's Lutheran church in Humboldt. The Rev. David Meier officiated. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
