Mrs. Benson died at 7:05 a.m. [Monday] February 27 in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. Born in Dickens County on May 15, 1903, the former Dessie Mae Cross, married R.L. Benson on January 24, 1932, he died February 19, 1973. She had been a resident of Dickens all her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Barney Mac Benson, address unknown; one sister Ann Roten, Wharton; one grandchild, Melissa Benson, Spur and several nieces and nephews.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery. [Burial Location: B 9]
