Growing up, family history was important. We knew a lot about how my father's family came to the US, where they settled and what their occupations were. Not as much was known about my mother's side, but my sister has been researching them. It was surprising to me that my husband and his extended family knew very little about their ancestors. I started researching his family several years ago. I've hit several dead ends but keep trying different avenues to get the information I want. I still consider myself a newbie at this but look forward to learning something new every time I start a new serach.
