GLASGOW – Thelma Jane Furlong, 91, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Mrs. Furlong was born in Barren County, and was the daughter of the late Lester Kurt Thomas and Emily Thomas Chapman. She was the wife of the late Charles Emmitt and the late Leslie Furlong. Mrs. Furlong was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons: Cecil Emmitt, Gilbert Emmitt, William Dee "Bill" Emmitt and wife Roberta, Curtis "Gene" Emmitt and wife Kay, all of Glasgow; eight step children: Grace Smith, Annie Settles, Barbara Wooten, Betsy Gibbons, James Furlong, Charles Furlong, Billy Furlong and Donald Furlong, all of Glasgow; one sister: Sara Lewis of Glasgow; 20 grandchildren and 20 step grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 21 step great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three step children, Jewell Furlong, Leroy Furlong and Aline Furlong; one sister, Lois Goad; and a brother, Elgin "Doc" Barrett.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Chapman Family Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. on Thursday.
