William Robert Crump, 91, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, Feb. 22, 2009. He passed away in Houston, where he had lived for the past five years. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Robert was born in the Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to the late John Richard and Texas Jewel Crump. He grew up in East Texas, where he met and married Juanita Inez Lockett on April 15, 1939, in a roadside park outside of Mt. Pleasant. He attended Baylor University and graduated with a teaching degree in 1945. He spent 40 years teaching English and History to junior and senior high school students in the Waco Independent School District. He loved teaching, and he never forgot any student who ever sat in his classroom. His teaching and mentoring went far beyond the school grounds to many beloved nieces and nephews. He attended North Waco Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He also served on the board of the Educator's Credit Union, until he had to resign for health reasons.

He is preceded in death by his wife; three sisters; and a brother.

He leaves behind two sisters-in-laws; and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
