Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell, 81, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born July 1, 1927, in Franklin to Paul W. and Elsie (Townsend) Canary. She married Joseph L. Campbell on Feb. 14, 1947. He preceded her in passing Jan. 27, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Levett of Austin, Texas, and Rebecca Cape of Spencer; a son, Dr. Joseph Campbell of Florissant, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Anmar Mirza, Carlos Tronco, Paul Tronco, Dan Campbell, Kate (Campbell) Clark, Karen Campbell and Susan (Campbell) Jischke; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Compton of Franklin; and a brother, William Canary.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Joe; and a brother, James Richard.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Purdue University.

Betty was employed by Ross Floral Co. for four years and the office of John Records, M.D., for 18 years and was a district manager for Creative Expressions Co. for three years.

She was a member of Union Christian Church, serving in various offices including general board chairman. She was a past president of Christian Women's Fellowship of Union Christian Church, past president of Church Women United of Johnson County, past worthy matron of Trafalgar Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Purdue Club of Johnson County and the Johnson County Historical Society.

Betty volunteered at the Todd-Aikens center at Johnson Memorial Hospital and the Johnson County Museum of History.

The Rev. W. Allan Whitehurst will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
