DEATH OF A VETERAN
William H, Minnear Died This Morning
of Cancer of the Face.
At the home of his son, Marion.
on Boulevard, this morning occurred
the death of William H. Minear, a
veteran of the Civil War. The death
was due to a cancer of the face from
which the aged man has been suffering
for the past fifteen years. For
the past three years the case has
been very bad and there has been
no hope of his recovery.
Mr. Minear was born in Huntington
county April 1st 1840, and died
at the advanced age of more than
seventy years. On August 20, 1861
he enlisted in Company I, of the
Eighth Indiana Volunteer regiment.
He served as a private in the war
until April 29, 1862, when he was
discharged on account of protracted
illness. He Is a member of the G.
A. R. in Huntington county.
Mr. Minear leaves a wife, Huldah,
and five children, Marion, living in
this city, John, who resides near
this city, Albert, of Bluffton, Carl
at Molly, and Mrs. Maria Case, whose
home is in Michigan.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday
afternoon at two o'clock at
the Church of Christ, with Rev. Zike
officiating. Burial will be made at
Woodlawn.
