A funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at the Noecker Funeral Home Chapel for Claude Phelps of Gillette who died Monday at Campbell County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was 78.
Marion Delane of the Church Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints wil officate. Burial will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Phelps was born July 1, 1907, at Willmathsville, MO, to Ora and Ola (Bennett) Phelps. In his early 20s he married Lulu Blaine of Bible Grove, MO. They had a son and a daughter.
On June 11, 1945, he married Norma (Harnagael) Burgdorf of West Point, Iowa. The couple had two daughters.
In August 1966 they moved to Gillette where they have lived ever since.
Survivors include his widow, Norma; one son, Harold; one daughter, Mrs Dell (Alice) Rubis; and a daughter, Shirley Aldridge, all of Gillette,
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Willie (Margie)Stewart of Andelusia, Ill.; one stepson, Dale Burgdorf of Gretna, LA; one sister, Alice Munden of Kirksville, MO; one half-brother Glen Van Dyke of Hurdland, MO; 18 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
Phelps was preceded in death by two sisters and one granddaughter.
