Henry Wilson McClelland, 86, of Dorseyville, Indiana Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at UPMC St. Margaret, Aspinwall.


Born Jan. 12, 1921, in Dorseyville, where he had lived all of his life.


Mr. McClelland was a member of East Union Presbyterian Church, West Deer.


Henry graduated in 1940 from Etna High School before entering the Army during World War II, where he served in the West Coast Defense as well as the Asiatic-Pacific Theaters.


Upon returning from the war, Henry worked in the shipping department of the former Scaife Co. in Oakmont for 25 years, and then as a maintenance worker for the former Gulf Research, Harmar, for more than 25 years.


He also was a member of the American Legion in Springdale, VFW in Sharpsburg, American Border Collie Club and supported the Christian Appalachian Project.


He enjoyed nature walking in the outdoors, dogs, old cars and especially spending time with his family.


Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Boyle) McClelland, and his daughter, Mary Pat (Jeffrey) Parsons, with whom they live; his granddaughter, Meaghan M. Parsons; sisters, Betty McAdam, of Rural Ridge, and Jean M. Baumgartel, of Indiana Township; and brothers, Kenneth D. McClelland, of Rural Ridge, and Patrick R. (Carol A.) McClelland, of Indiana Township.


He was preceded in death by his parents, James Warren and Agnes Marie (Holfelder) McClelland; and a brother, James W. McClelland.


The family will meet friends at 11 a.m. Friday in the Founders Chapel of East Union Presbyterian Church for a funeral service with the Rev. James Ramsey officiating.


Burial with full military honors will follow in East Union Church Cemetery, West Deer.


Following the burial, from 12:30 till 4 p.m., the family invites friends to stop at the home of Jeff and Mary Pat Parsons to visit with Betty.
