Edwin Douthit
Edwin W. Douthit, a retired Palestine city employee, died at his home on Route 1, Palestine Friday following a sudden illness. He was 77.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Bailey Memorial Chapel here with the Rev. Ross Kelley officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Elkhart.
Grandson served as pallbearers.
Mr. Douthit is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lora Mae Lively Douthit; four sons, Connie and M. E. Douthit of Waco, Arthur Douthit of Waxahachie, and Marion Douthit of Palestine; a daughter, Mrs. E. L. Lewis of Coolidge; 21 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
