OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Wednesday, 1 June 1977:
Lora Douthit
Mrs. E. W. (Lora May) Douthit of Route 1, Palestine died in Anderson County Memorial Hospital at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Bailey Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Elkhart with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Born in Anderson County on May 14, 1896, Mrs. Douthit was the daughter of the late George and Louella Young Lively. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and had served the church as a pianist and organist. She was preceded in death by her husband E. W. Douthit on Dec. 1, 1967 and a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Hodge on Nov. 21, 1939.
Survivors include four sons, Connie and Mack Douthit, both of Bellmead, Arthur Douthit of Waxahachie and Marion Douthit of Palestine; a daughter, Mrs. Ozelle Lewis of Tehaucana; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive condolence calls at the M. R. Douthit residence, 209 Benbrook.
