CHURCHLAND - John Clyde Garner, 70, of Route 1, Simerson Rd., Churchland Community, Linwood, died Friday at 11:15 p.m. at Rowan Memorial Hospital following three weeks illness.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Johnny Ray Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Voglers-Piedmont Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9.
Born August 8, 1913, in Davidson County, he was a son of the late N.A. and Connie Snider Garner. He was a farmer and a member and deacon of the Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Docia Snider Garner; two daughters, Mrs. Jimmy (Connie) Koontz and Mrs. Paul (Delois) Wilson, both of Route 4, Salisbury; a son, Robbie C. Garner of Raleigh; his stepmother, Mrs. N.A. (Ruby) Garner of Denton;

Eight brothers, Vernon Garner of Asheboro, Lester Garner of Troy, Nolan Garner of Lexington, Thurman, Von, N.A., James Allen and Dewey Garner, all of Denton; six sisters, Ruby Rash, Hazel Snider, Virgie Smith and Doris Peacock, all of Denton; Mrs. Vernon (Patty) Misenheimer of Burlington and Mrs. Joe (Gayle) Lamb of Greensboro;

Three stepbrothers, Von and Don Shaw, both of Thomasville, and Ken Shaw of Denton; a stepsister, Anna Mae Burleson of Hyattsville, Md.; and eight grandchildren. (Tricia Koontz; Greg, Monty, Gina, Cory Wilson; Trevor, Chad, Tara Garner)
