John Bark died on Sunday, May 24. He was born in Westmoreland county on January 6, 1839 and was 86 years, four months and 18 days old. He was the father of 12 children, nine of which are living. He was united in marriage on February 23, 1860 to Barbara Ann Harman. Of this union there were five children: Sarah S., George A., Mary E., Anna C., and Emma J. On May 28, 1874 he was again married to Mary Catherine Smeltzer. Of this union there were seven children: Jemina C., John P., William H., Samuel W., Charles A., Thomas F., and Bert S. He spent nearly all of his life in Indiana and Armstrong counties. The end came very quietly and peacefully. He leaves also one sister, Mrs Sloan Miller of Apollo. He was a life-long member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment took place the Tuesday following, the services being in charge of his pastor, the Rev. Mr. Wood, assisted by the Rev. B. W. Miller, his old friend and neighbor. Interment was made in Gastown Cemetery.
