G. Joyce Berry, 87, of Kokomo formerly of Forest, IN passed away at 2:50 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Golden Living Center Sycamore Village. She was born on April 20, 1926 in Cutler, IN to Cleo "Tom" and Miriam (Wolfe) Sheets. On July 18, 1944 Joyce married Barkley Berry who passed away on January 1, 1992.
Joyce was a 1944 Forest High School graduate. In the early years she and Barkley owned a grocery store and later she worked for Delco Electronics, retiring after 19 years there. Joyce was a member of Russiaville Baptist Church and Fairmount Baptist Church. Joyce was very involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship. She loved to garden, play the piano, give piano lessons and sing.
Survivors include children Angela (Ernest) Laughner of Fairmount, Gerald "Jerry" (Trish) Berry of Noblesville, Thomas Berry of Nashville, TN, Bret (Marsha) Berry of Forest; sisters Joan Marshall of Russiaville, Julia Sander of Dallas, GA; brother Norman (Sandy) Sheets of Forest; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank Golden Living Center for the care they gave Joyce during her stay.
Funeral services will be 4 pm on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Stout & Son Funeral Home 200 East Main St. with Pastor Ernest Laughner and Pastor Virgil Barkerofficiating. A private burial will take place at Hopewell cemetery. Friends may call upon the family from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship.
