Ira Miles Swartz, 96, Estherville, passed away Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating and burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Swartz was born February 24, 1878 in Wenona, Ill., to Albert and Ella Watkins Swartz and received his education in Illinois.

He came to Emmet County with his parents in1899 and had farmed in Emmet and Dickinson County all his life. He was married to Grace Bruner on November 1, 1902 in Estherville and she passed away in 1966.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the last eight years.

Mr. Swartz is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Otto (Ruby) Schaper, Estherville; 10 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, one son, five brothers and one sister.

Henry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday.
