CARL H. KIPFER
Carl H. Kipfer, 78, route 1, Berne, minister for 18 years at Apostolic Christian Church, Vera Cruz, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after being ill about one month.
He was born in Adams County on August 14, 1912 to Joel and Mary Gilliom Kipfer. He married Velma Fiechter in 1946; she died on August 29, 1976. He married Nora Fiechter on Nov. 16, 1977 and she survives.
He was minister of the church from 1959-77 and was also an employee of Brock Bin Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a surgical technician.
Other survivors are a son, Ronald Kipfer, rural Bluffton; a stepson, Walter Steffen, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Beverly Hodel, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Joleen Sinn, Fredericktown, Ohio; two sisters, Esther and Frieda Kipfer, both of Bluffton; a brother, Martin Kipfer, rural Bluffton and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Apostolic Christian church, Vera Cruz, Revs. Edward Schwartz Jr. and Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visiting hours at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, are 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. - noon Tuesday. There is visitation from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Preferred memorials are to the Apostolic Christian Charity Fund, which Mr. Kipfer led for many years.
