Instructor Corporal, Beechcraft AT-11 Kansan #41-27522 flew to Lake Charles Army Airfield, Louisiana on an instructional flight. While returning to base at Bryan, Texas, the aircrew encountered instrument flying conditions. Then the starboard motor quit, and the pilot trimmed the airplane for single engine operation and dove to a lower elevation. Encountering heavy rain, the remaining motor quit and the pilot called for the crew to bail out. Only one airman successfully parachuted out and survived before the airplane went into a dive and crashed, eight miles west of Trinity, Texas.

Cpl. Orla Anderson Killed in Plane Crash
The say new was received last Saturday that Corporal Orlo D. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Minius Anderson of Marion, was killed in a plane crash at Bryan Field, Texas on Friday. Orlo was an instructor at the airfield. His wife, the former Ruth Starr, and little son, Roland, reside at Tower City with her folks. Funeral services will be held next Saturday afternoon, December 2, at the Marion Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock.
