Obituary of Normal Wika
Normal S. Wika, 77, a lifelong Clark County resident and a longtime Clark businessman, died June 3,1992, at Prairie lakes Health Care Center in Watertown.
He was born April 23,1915 in Clark County, the son of Nels and Lydia (Wee) Wika. He was baptized and confirmed in the Clark Center Lutheran Church. He attended elementary school in Garfield Township and graduated from Clark High School in 1933. Following graduation he spent some time with other young men of the community working in the CCC camp in the Black Hills.
He married Ruth Marbeth Stevens at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown in 1938. Following their marriage he served as manager and later part owner of the Clark Roller Feed Mill. He retired in 1977 after 40 years of service. He served as a member of the Clark Fire Department for 26 years, the city council for 16 years, the Izaak Walton League and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a longtime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was a member of the church choir and held many church offices. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and the follower of all sports.
Survivors are his wife, Marbeth of Clark; four sons, Brent of Lake Kampeska, Darryl of Brookings, Darwin of Singapore and Bruce of Parker, CO; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Dawn) Van Riper of Denver, CO; three sisters, Mildred Cochrane and Mrs Clifford (Orva) Schwartz, both of Clark, and Mrs Jack (Nora) Davis of Watertown; four brothers, Maurice of Watertown, Emmett of Raymond, Alvin of Clark and Leroy of North Platte, NE; three half sisters; a half brother; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
