This oldest cemetery in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick is managed by the Lutheran church congregation of Alt-Glienicke. The original address was Strasse 130 Nr. 27-44, but since Germany's re-unification it is now "Am Alten Friedhof 50". It covers an area of 19.169 square meters or 4.73 acres. The names listed here were gathered during a census of the cemetery in 2010 and are taken from local church records.
Most German cemeteries have a period of repose of 20-40 years, which means that after about 25 years of a person's death the plot will be re-used. Unless there is family left which purchases another period of repose for a pre-set time. If no one is left the grave will eventually be leveled and re-used. In many German areas the rear structures of sometimes elaborate grave monuments are kept intact, for historical reasons, but the plot itself is being re-used. Since the original occupants and their coffins have naturally decomposed (no poisonous embalming in Germany) the plot is often filled with new urn burials. That is the case here.
The city owned and managed non- denominational cemetery Städtischer Friedhof Altglienicke is located about 1 mile south from this one.
