Sacred Heart Cemetery

Two men, Pat and Mike Hannen gave 6 acres to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church to be used for church and cemetery. Only 2 acres were used so the other 4 acres reverted back to the landowners.
In later years the cemetery became known as the Prairie Creek Cemetery.
The church was torn down about 1955.
There are about 50 graves. The oldest marker is dated 1895.
An interesting marker was the one for Edmond Barry, erected by his beloved wife, 6 sons and 5 daughters. He was born in Parish Glanreigh County Cork Ireland Dec 20, 1826, and passed away Nov 24, 1886.
