Huggins Cemetery

This cemetery is located on private property near New River Gorge National Park and Preserve land and is accessible rather easily by foot at a distance of approximately one half mile one way.
At this cemetery location there are three different cemeteries each being separated by a fence. According to the property owner the names of the other two cemeteries are Martin Cemetery and Harrah Cemetery. Several death certificates and obituaries refer to these cemeteries as Garden Ground Cemetery. The Fayette County Cemetery Records Volume 1 published in May 2001 by the Fayette-Raleigh Genealogical Society names the collective whole of these three cemeteries as Morris Martin Cemetery. The Huggins Cemetery is located behind the large and better maintained Harrah Cemetery. The coordinates will put you near the entrance to the Huggins Cemetery.
Directions: In the nearby city of Mount Hope enter State Route 61 SOUTH also known as Mill Creek Road. Travel approximately one mile to Jack Furst Drive (County Route 41/3) on the left. Jack Furst Drive is formerly known as Garden Grounds Road and may still appear as such on your map system. Travel 1.2 miles on Jack Furst Drive and you will find a paved road on your right that angles uphill. This road currently is unsigned but is named Maple Meadows Hoo Hoo Road. Travel Maple Meadows Hoo Hoo Road 2.1 miles to a gate on the right. This gate is just past a house and a trailer can be seen behind the gate. You will pick up a trail as you walk past the trailer.
