In 1725, Hendrick Vandolah leased a farm of 220 acres in Amwell Township (now Delaware Township), Hunterdon County. This land is situated in the fertile Amwell Valley between the Hunterdon Plateau to the north and Sourland Mountain to the south. A small hill called Sandy Ridge runs east-west just to the north of the Vandolah farm. A burying ground here served the Vandolah family from the mid- to late 1700's.
