Photos

This cemetery was described by many early residents of Sand Lick in Elihu Sutherland's book "Pioneer Recollections" although it does not exist today. Those residents said it was located on the point opposite the mouth of Lick Creek. This was the original location of the first Sand Lick Baptist Church also which was started in 1837.
At least three people were known to be buried here; Crissa Counts Colley, Benjamin F. Deel, and Crissa, slave of Richard 'Fighting Dick' Colley.
