Very old family cemetery located in the woods on private property owned by Matt Travis. It's completely covered up with leaves, trees of all sizes, some are very old, tall trees. An old square wire fence runs thru it separating the neighbors land (Joe Pat Daniel) & you can see his barn as you stand by the graveyard (we found it Oct. 31st, 2022 & I took photos + a video). 1 tombstone (marked Joseph P.) stands by itself on Joe Pat's side of the fence while the other 7 are on the side owned by the Travis's.
The back portion of land is a mile+ long field that's being cleared to plant corn in 2023. As you drive across the width of the field there is a strip of woods that borders a stream (guessing it's Drakes Creek that runs under the bridge on Cemetery Rd). On the other side of the stream is a tall rocky cliff where you can see a house built into the side of it. The road that runs in front of that house I'm told is Old Porter Pike.
The field that's being cleared had an old house that was bulldozed, so nothing remains of it other than long rusty nails, bits of colored glass & some porcelain knobs from old knob & tube wiring. I'm guessing it may have been the old Hill homestead from back in the 1800's since it's within walking distance to the cemetery we found in the nearby woods. The names on the tombstones that I could read were:
1) Mary Hill, born Sept. 17th, 1782 & died Nov. 10 (or 19th), 1854
2) A.H.H. (small tombstone, possibly a baby)
3) N.J. Hill, born June 2, 1855 & died July 9, 1893
4) Joseph P. son of N.J. & M.E. Hill, Feb. 24, 1879, Nov. 5 (or 15th), 1886
5) Anna Hellen, daughter of J.M. & A.E. Claypool, born Oct. 20, 1862, died Dec. 25, 1864, How Many Hopes Lies Burried (sic) Here

There could be more tombstones covered under the leaves & vines, but we counted 8. I hope to get permission next Spring to clean off some of the tombstones that were unreadable once I research how to safely do that without damaging the tombstone etchings. Possibly I'll be able to clean up the old cemetery itself, too. If that transpires, then I'll add any info I find readable.
