The former gold rush town of Jericho was once a very thriving community, but today nothing remains of the town but a small overgrown cemetery. The cemetery is located on the side of a hill near to the picnic area on the Jordan River. There have been no burials in this cemetery for many years due to the fact it is in the catchment area of the Thomson dam. Burial records for the cemetery were destroyed in the bushfires of 1939 and records of burials have been compiled from a number of different sources. Although it is more than certain all the burials listed in this cemetery are physically interred in same, some may still need to be confirmed via death certificates. Access to this area is only open during summer months and 4x4 wheel drive vehicles are recommended.
