In the book "The History of Bartow County formerly Cass" by Lucy Josephine Cunyus, 1933, Samuel Smith came to Cass County with his wife, Melissa Grey, and his brothers and sisters from Anderson, S. C. Around the early or mid-eighteen thirties, they settled on a plantation known as the Shepherd-Gilreath place in the 5th district, 3rd section of the original Cherokee land of Georgia. The cemetery has been abandoned, overgrown, vandalized, and forgotten. Efforts are being made to document the graves and add to Find-A-Grave. LSGayton
