Photos

This small cemetery was formerly used by the Bethanien Hospital (Diakonissen- und Krankenhaus Bethanien) prior to WWII. It was founded in about 1891 and was mainly used for the deaconesses who ran the facility and residents of the old age home. It is most notable as the burial site of the industrialist Johann Quistorp, who founded the hospital complex, and his son Martin. The cemetery was leveled after WWII but excavations have been conducted to uncover the Quistorp's gravestones and a major restoration of the cemetery is proposed for the future.
