SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK, Luray, VIRGINIA
OFFICE Of The SUPERINTENDENT MEMORANDUM - July 27, 1954
George Beahm - Plot #16
Location: Near top of Pickerel Ridge, inside Park boundary a short distance. Follow first road leading to right above John Swindler's sawmill on Piney Branch. Continue to road fork, taking left route here. Cemetery will be 1-2 miles farther on. Tract number unknown.
Inactive: Last burial approximately 30-35 years ago.
Number of burials: Approximately 15.
Descendants: Dela Partlow, Washington, Virginia
Miscellaneous: Very difficult to reach and no maintenance since Park acquired the land.
From OffTrail on 31 Jan 2020: I am familiar with the info you have; it is from a 1954 NPS report. John Swindler's sawmill no longer exists and I don't know about Dela Partlow. The cemetery appendix in Darwin Lambert's book, The Undying Past of Shenandoah National Park, describes it as being on the SE side of Pignut Mountain toward Pickerel Ridge reached by following old road (it is now just a faint road trace) up a ridge from Piney River. The tract number is 80.
The easiest way to access is at the Piney Branch trailhead at the boundary of Shenandoah NP. That is basically the way I found it, although it is very difficult, but there is no easy way or easy instructions to get to it.
