McCaleb Family Cemetery
Madison County, Alabama, USA
LOCATION: Section 35, Township 1S, Range 1W, W/2 E/2 SW/4.
Note: When Dorothy Scott Johnson visited there in 1970 she found there were no inscribed stones in this cemetery. The land was owned then by Mr. and Mrs. C. Franklin Bendall who bought it from Mr. J. O. Fisk. At least one of Mr. Fisk's ancestors is buried here but the cemetery is actually the old McCaleb family cemetery.
I visited there in Nov 2016 and found the whole place grown up in weeds. After a years of being adjacent to crops where spraying the area with growth hormones, giant weeds have sprang up because of spillover from being in the midst of the crops. I cut thru the dead brush to clear the revolutionary war memorial.
Other less formal memorials were covered so dense I was not able to get to them. However I am confident as Dorothy Scott Johnson implied there are no inscribed stones there, but some are shaped by a stone carver.

This cemetery is sometimes called the McCaleb-Fisk Cemetery and now the Higginbotham Cemetery.
