In the early days the settlers were often faced with the death of a loved one which brought up the problem of a community burial place. In this matter, Darlingford was no exception, except for the fact that, as one writer put it, "The little town on the top of the hill" held many good suitable locations from a drainage stand point. The purchase of land did have to be agreed upon, and the where with all to purchase the land found, and the matter of ownership and other details taken care of.
It is to the everlasting credit of the many citizens who did their bit, large or small, to maintain the grounds in a reasonable state of preservation, to keep records of [then] over two hundred burials and to keep the accounts solvent at all times.

As noted above, a part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1999 is told in the volume "The Darlingford Saga II 1870 - 1999", especially starting on page 68 and the retelling includes a list of known burials at the time the book was publication. A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #1150), transcribed by a member or members in 1997. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI).
Additionally, the local Pembina Manitou Archive curates a considerable collection of records and information about the people and places of the area, including a listing of those buried in this cemetery based on the files of the Rural Municipality of Pembina, the church files, and the information on the gravestones in the cemetery.
