Add PhotosChestertown, New York 12817 in Warren County. Easily accessible from the parking lot behind that address, or from Main Street itself, from which it is visible largely due to the height of the Fowler obelisk.
There's an old gate to the cemetery on the west side of its northwest corner, but it is overgrown and might not function anyway. The stone walls surrounding the cemetery are short enough to step up and over them.
There's seven little headstones with initials around the Fowler obelisk, but I only photographed five names on the obelisk. Possibly I neglected to photograph another side of the obelisk that listed names. Together with the two Hotchkiss headstones (one shared by husband and wife), there seems to be no more than ten marked burials, but it's possible other headstones have been obscured.
The reasonably good condition of the small family cemetery owes something to the work of the Neighborhood Youth Corps' work in 1965:
"When work started here in July the center monument was obscured by the heighth [sic] of trees, which had overturned stones and damaged the wall. The wall was repointed."
Fish, Caroline H. "Chester Proud of Youth Project." Warrensburg-Lake George News. September 30, 1965: 8.
The full-page article has one photo of "a portion of the crews, clerical, recreation, cemetery, landscape and conservation, carpentry and odd job grouped in front of Fowler Cemetery in the heart of the village of Chestertown."
