Cemetery better known as Mullins - Sturgill Cemetery

John and Mary (Boggs) Standifer lived, raised a large family, and died in the Robinson District of The Pound, Wise Co., Virginia. There are no headstones marking their burial site but they are, no doubt, among the many unmarked graves which include some of their children.
This photo was taken in 1996 concluding a lenghty search for the Standifer Cemetery. Jennings Shortt, also a Standifer descendant, had the key to the gate that sits at the entrance. He and his grandson took my Aunt, Yvonne Standifer Howell, and I to see the Cemetery which is now, I believe, located in a National Forest in Wise Co., Virginia.

There are approximately 40 graves marked only by fieldstones in this cemetery; more than graves that are identified. This is so sad.
