Add Photos"Located south of the Norfolk and Western Railway and west of Pryor Road (Training Area 11), this family cemetery was one of 2 (the western one) located in what was Tract
C-172 owned by Walter E. Burnett et ux. in 1944 (see Burnett Cemetery, Table 1 and Figure 1). It is marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map. Although one cemetery
(Thompson) from this tract is included on Godburn's list of cemeteries relocated to Butterwood Church, it is unknown if that listing refers to the eastern or western cemetery in this tract (Godburn 1977: G-9). Since the western cemetery was marked on the 1944 map as relocated and the eastern was not it is probably safe to assume that the western cemetery is "Thompson" and had its burials moved to Butterwood and that the eastern cemetery (Burnett) burials were left alone. Godburn lists 16 Unknown individuals as being relocated from this cemetery to Butterwood (Godburn 1977: G-9). The exact location of this former cemetery had not been identified at the time of this survey."
