Add Photoseast-west oriented, possible grave depression is easily identifiable (Plate 18). An associated historic farmstead dating from the late 19th to early 20th century is adjacent to the cemetery (44NT120). There is no fence enclosure or marker of any kind. This location was field visited during the Fort Pickett Cultural Resource Program's
archaeological survey project #2004.19 (Boyko 2007: 68). The site and possible grave depression are recommended not eligible for the National Register of Historic Places
(Boyko 2007: 69-70)."
"The location of this possible cemetery was not noted on the 1944 Real Estate Property Map, nor was it mentioned on Godburn's list of cemeteries moved to Butterwood Church
(Godburn 1977: Appendix G). The Greenhill Cemetery, located within the same tract, is located just to the northeast (see Greenhill Cemetery). If the depression at this archaeological site is indeed a former gravesite, it is quite likely that it was relocated to Gills Bridge Road along with the individuals, probably from the same or related families, from the Greenhill cemetery. The record of deed transactions for the Greenhill tract listed in Table 10, combined with gravestone data from Gills Bridge Road Cemetery indicates one of several possible individuals having been interred there—Ellen Greenhill
(1871-1903), Fannie Greenhill (1862-1895), Marinda Greenhill (birth/death dates on gravestone are illegible), Simon Greenhill (1861-1931), Sterling Greenhill (1865-1934)
or the 10 others identified as being relocated from "Greenhill" on the metal markers (see Table 5)."
