This cemetery is located on land lot number 302 in the Fourth Land District of Ben Hill County, Georgia. This is a family cemetery, the ground upon which same is located having been reserved as a family cemetery in a deed made from the late James H. Dorminy to his son Jacob P. Dorminy, who died during the year 1890.
James H. Dorminy, his son Jacob P. Dorminy as well as numerous sons and daughters of both James H. Dorminy and Jacob P. Dorminy, as well as various grand children of the said James H. Dorminy and other relatives as well as the bodies of three brothers of Mrs. J.D.C. Bell and other close and remote relatives are buried there.
This information was taken from an injunction September 2, 1926, that was taken by Mrs. Ida Gibbs, Mrs. Ada Reddock, Mrs. J.D.C. Bell (grand daughters), J.D.C. Bell, D.M. Dorminy, Daniel Dorminy and Ed Dorminy against L.L. Griner Realty Company. This company had purchased this property and was in the process of developing it to build houses. They had dug holes and was pushing the headstones into the holes and covering them up. The judge ordered Griner Realty Company to stop and to replace all the tombstones.
Apparently they never fulfilled this order because there are only three headstones with names standing today 2010.
Accoring to the records of Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, Georgia Jacob P. Dorminy was moved from this cemetery, June 5. 1961, to Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, Georgia.
