An unpretentious structure, standing on the North-West corner of Section 10, Township 13, the Grassmere United Church (formerly the Grassmere Presbyterian Church) bears silent testimony to the truth that the early settlers of the area acknowledged Christian worship as vital to the life of man and community.
The meeting which brought into being the Grassmere church was held on the harvest evening of Sept. 29, 1875, at the home of Angus Fraser. Rev. A. Glendenning was in the chair.
The property on which the Grassmere church stands was purchased from A. Sellars by a committee whose members were charged to offer 10 dollars for three acres.

Mr Archie Sillers was credited with the naming of Grassmere Church, which has stood on the corner of his original homestead for 107 years. The present building opened in December 1895.

As noted above, part of the story of the town and its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1982 is told in the volume "100 Years of History, Rockwood Municipality", especially starting on pages 87f and in the related volume "Rockwood Echoes", starting on page 33. Free digital versions of these and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society, as transcribed by members in 2001. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the MGS Manitoba Name Index (or MANI).
