In 1861, St. James Church of the Evangelical Association was founded at this site. Church services were discontinued about 1900 and Sunday School was discontinued about 1930. The church building was razed in 1975.
As of 1981, there were 31 tombstones in the cemetery which was surrounded on three sides by a stone wall (the stone wall no longer exists). The cemetery is located about 250 feet north of Gruversville Road, about 4/10 mile from Richlandtown Road, on land that is privated owned.
