Barwick Cemetery, Norristown, Emanuel Co, GA

Cemetery - Located 3/5 of a mile from Norristown, Emanuel CO, GA. At intersection of GA221 and Covena RD travel East.

The cemetery is in a field on the left side of the road. The field has a hot wire fence and the cemetery is enclosed by a chain link fence.

Located on the old Nathan Barwick Plantation and was started in 1818 when Nathan's father-in-law William Whiddon died was the first to be buried here. His grave is outside the chain link fence under an oak tree and is marked with a concrete marker that says, "William Whiddon and Wife". This type marker is also used on the grave of Nathan and Elizabeth Whiddon Barwick and inscribed with Nathan Barwick and Wife". All other are marked very well with the oldest dated marker of February 1844. Wesley G. Wilson Sr. [email protected]
