Located at 45-45 Cornhill, St. Michael, Cornhill is a medieval parish church in the City of London beneath which lies the remains the former Roman basilica with some of the church's foundations sitting directly on top of the roman foundations. The church is first referenced in 1055 when it was gifted to the Abbey of Evesham. This patronage lasted until 1503 at which time it was given to the Drapers' Company. Only the tower of the medieval church survived the Great Fire of London in 1666. The current church was rebuilt by Christopher Wren between 1669 and 1672. The church escaped serious damage in WWII and was designated a Grade 1 listed building on January 4 1950. The church has one of the oldest sets of churchwarden's records in the City of London. In 1906 the parishes of St. Peter le Poer (demolished in 1906) and St. Benet Fink (demolished in 1846) were united with St. Michael's.
