On one corner of the outside wall is a plaque which reads "This graveyard was established by the Hollingsworth and Parkins Families who were early Quaker settlers in this community. It was in use during the 1700's and 1800's and is one of the oldest graveyards in Winchester. In John Parkins' will, dated 1815, he directed that it be 'Forever reserved for the purpose of burying ground for the use and to be at the disposal of the society of friends in general'."
Directions: From I81 South, take VA Exit 313. Do not go to the light but instead continue to the right and cross back over the interstate. Continue straight through the next two lights until you come to a "Y" in the road.
From I81 North, take VA Exit 313B. At the stoplight both lanes must turn right, at which time there will immediately be another light. Proceed straight through this light and you will come to a "Y" in the road.
At the "Y", two lanes bear to the left while one lane continues straight. Go to the left and you will be on Jubal Early Drive. Continue straight through the next three stop lights, getting into the left lane at some point. After the third light there will be a shopping center on the left. Just past the center there will be a left turn lane ... turn left here. Go straight a short distance and the road will "T". To the right is the rear entrance to a factory and to the left is the back entrance to the shopping center. Just ahead, and slightly to the left, is the cemetery. If you turn left at the "T" there are some parking spaces near the back wall of the cemetery. The "entrance" to the cemetery is on the opposite side but this is heavily overgrown.
