Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church is an African American congregation. The cemetery is located right beside the church. It is maintained by the Thomas family.

The general area around the church is known as Thomas Town Community. The church and cemetery was probably established around the turn of the cemetery, when the Thomas, Owens, and Francis families lived there. Most of the people buried there are descendants, and it is still being used today.
