Pisgah Church was founded in 1841 and was served for many years by the Circuit Riders. She became a part of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South about 1865, after the Civil War. At the Uniting Conference May 10, 1939 she became a part of The Methodist Church and in April, 1968 General Conference, a part of The United Methodist Church.
In 1919 Pisgah was taken from the Maiden Circuit and became included in the Claremont Circuit along with Center, Mountain View, Bethlehem, Friendship and St Paul's. In 1920, Bethlehem was rejoined to the Catawba Charge and the five remaining churches made up a new Circuit to be called Balls Creek. St. Paul's was removed later and the four remaining churches remained the Balls Creek Charge until it division in June, 1969 and Center-Pisgah became a new Charge. There is no record of the ministers who served before 1919.

The following preachers have served the Balls Creek Charge since its formation: A. G. Loftin to 1920, Jim Green to 1923, John H.Green to 1925, T. W. Hager, 1926, J. M. Green, P. H. Brittain to 1929, J. A.Frye to 1931, Max Brandon to 1935, J. O.Howell to 1936, W.A.Wellman to 1937, H. H.Robbins to 1939, B. A. Sisk to 1941, R. L. Forbis to 1944, J. O.Banks to 1949, Van B. Harrison to 1954, G. W. Carver to 1957, William E. Rufty to 196l, W. L. Harkey to 1963, Byron Shankle to 1967, Frank Pennigar to 1969.

The present building was errected in the summer and fall of 1963. The first service was held in the new building on November 10,1963. The indebtedness was paid and the building was dedicated April 9,1967.
